Welcome to the city of Graz Children’s Parliament!

Graz is one of the few cities in Europe in which children can take part in decision making what should be done in their city. The children get their own budget from the city of Graz, which they can administrate with support. So it is the children who decide how they would like to spend the money. If your child is between the age of eight to 14, he/she can take part in the Children´s Parliament.

In the Children’s Parliament children experience democratic procedures and learn in a playful way:

  • to express their opinion,
  • to argue,
  • to take decisions in a group and
  • to find solutions in a group.

We do funny and exciting activities like:

  • the election of the children’s mayor,
  • meetings with politicians and civil servants,
  • playground planning,
  • project-related tours (ORF, centralkitchen of Graz,…),
  • activities like Graffiti spraying, ice-skating or climbing and
  • many, many more.

Taking part in the Children’s Parliament is for free and possible at any time. Also, your child can always bring siblings or friends.

If you want to get to know us, just give me a call or write an e-mail. I can talk to you in German or in English or you can come with your child who can help us as a translator.
